Today Zucchini is a leading manufacturer of prefab wiring systems in busbars, the result of growth and development since the company was set up in 1958.
The two production units in Brescia, where Zucchini S.p.A. is based, and the one in Castrezzone di Muscoline, 30 km from Brescia, have been developed and modernised to keep abreast of technological development and requirements in an ever-expanding market.
In 1997 new facilities were built to back up the main production and guarantee a fully tested product, including one of the most technologically advanced aluminium and copper bar galvanisation plants in Italy.
Sold in 1992 by the Zucchini family to BC Partners and a group of managers from the company, the company was given fresh impulse by the new ownership and turnover rose 30% in a short space of time.
One of the reasons behind this success is exports, which leapt from 1,080 million $ in 1993 to 9,7 million $ in 1998 with a positive effect on the sales trend in Italy.
The size and importance of the company made it necessary for Zucchini S.p.A. to take some major steps forward in the past three years:

  • 4th November 1996 - company stocks started to be sold on the Milan Stock Exchange.
  • 9th December 1996 - increased exports and growth called for a better, more capillary sales network, so Zucchini Busbar UK Ltd was set up in Birmingham, U.K., fully owned by Zucchini S.p.A..
  • October 1998 - The company acquired a 70% stake in Elettromeccanica di Marnate, which makes medium-voltage (MV) transformers encapsulated in resin.
  • December 1998 - Zucchini S.p.A. took over Gizeta S.r.l., a Brescia firm making accessories for office wiring systems.

These developments are in line with the company's present aims to extend the range of products and create a synergy between new items and its own traditional products.

Zucchini S.p.A. currently boasts a 53% share of the Italian market, 40% for high power ( I >160 A ) busbars and 60% busbars for lighting systems and low motive power.
Although Zucchini's main market is Italy, turnover from exports has rocketed in recent years. The company is also the third largest European manufacturer of busbars and now holds a 20% market share for the entire range of products.
All Zucchini products are certified for use in numerous European countries and to safeguard its own know-how the company has registered its trademark in several countries in Eastern Europe and the European Union.
